Put on your hiking boots… we’re going to Sa Conca!

Blog

Hello!

As I promised, this week I put on my hiking boots. Although my morning started in a much less sporty way…

First, a delicious breakfast on the terrace by the pool at Hotel Barcarola. The morning sun, a good coffee… and suddenly, getting up from the table is a bit more difficult.

But come on, Charly… let’s walk!

Today I start from Sant Pol to follow the Camí de Ronda towards Platja d’Aro, with Sa Conca as the final destination.

A bit of glamour along the way

Very soon I reach the beautiful historic area of S’Agaró. Beautiful villas, green avenues, and corners with spectacular sea views.

S’Agaró began to develop from the 1920s as an elegant garden city by the sea. Here is also the famous five-star hotel Hostal de La Gavina, which opened its doors in 1932.

And its guest book? Quite impressive. Over the years, stars like Ava Gardner, John Wayne, Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson, and Robert De Niro have stayed here.

Not a bad stop during my morning walk. 😉

Very close by is also the charming church of Nostra Senyora de l’Esperança. It was consecrated in 1942 and is located in a beautiful location on top of the hill. It is certainly worth going to see before continuing the path.

Heading to Sa Conca

From here, the Camí de Ronda continues winding along the coast. Stairs up, stairs down, and after almost every turn, a new view of the Mediterranean appears.

My advice: don't walk too fast.

Stop from time to time, look back and enjoy. This is one of those routes where the journey is at least as beautiful as the destination.

And finally, Sa Conca Beach appears.

Shoes off, feet in the sand and a little while enjoying the sun. Actually, my plan was to continue walking towards Platja d’Aro…
But well. Sa Conca won. 😉

Charly's tip of the week:
Go out in the morning, wear good shoes and bring water with you. And above all, take your time to enjoy the surroundings and take a look at La Gavina and the small church along the way.

Once at Sa Conca, of course, you can continue walking towards Platja d’Aro.
Or you can do like me. Shoes off and enjoy the beach.

See you soon!

Charly
